Unzipping .ZIP files

We package some of our course content in .ZIP folders which is one way of grouping together relevant course content and also reduces the overall size of the file for easier downloading.

If you are unfamiliar with .ZIP files, please read on to learn how to unzip the file to be able to open the files contained within the file.

PC (Windows XP, Vista, 7)
locate the file

  1. RIGHT click on the file to reveal a menu of options

  2. Select Extract ALL

  3. A dialogue box will appear

  4. Click Next to start the unzipping process

  5. Choose where you want to save the files (A new folder will be created with all the files in it)

  6. Click Next and you're done!


If you don't have a software to unzip files, you can download 7-zip. 7-Zip is open source software. Most of the source code is under the GNU LGPL license. The unRAR code is under a mixed license: GNU LGPL + unRAR restrictions.

  1. Locate the file

  2. Double click to start the unzipping process

  3. You're Done!
