Can't open .TGZ file

When downloading our zip files, some browsers consider the file to be different and automatically add a different extension, such as .TGZ. (E.G. Beginner Lessons.zip.tgz) This file extension is added to the end of the file name and makes it difficult for Unzipping programs such as Winzip to know what to do with the file.

If you have downloaded a file with the extension .TGZ, you can remove the .TGZ extensionso that your unzipping software OR your computer will be able to 'unpack' the contents of the folder so you can start using the course lessons.


  1. Locate the file

  2. Select it (one left click of your mouse)

  3. Select it again (one left click of your mouse) to allow you to change the name or Press F2

  4. Move your cursor to the end of the name and delete the .TGZ extension

  5. Make sure there is a .ZIP extension


If the option above does not work for you, delete the files you have downloaded and go to the Jamorama members area again, You will need to download the ZIP files again, this time, let's do it this way:



  1. Let's download the Beginners Lessons. Right click on the link and select save link/target/file as...


  2. A window will come up where you can select the location where you want the file to be saved as well as choose the FILE TYPE, make sure to select ALL TYPES or ZIP if available. Click save.

  3. Once the file has been saved you will be able to unzip it.
